July 16, 1819 expedition under command F.F. Bellinsgauzen in structure of two ships "Vostok" and "Mirnyi" has left Kronshtadt. "Mirnyi" command Lieutenant M.P. Lazarev. One of remarkable navigation in a history of Great geographical opening was begun. The navigation has allowed to establish existence of huge continent of Antarctic Continent and to open 29 unknown islands.

Ship "Mirnyi" is constructed on Olonetsk shipyard about St. Petersburg in 1818. It was the three-mast two-deck ship armed with 20 guns. Crew 72 persons. The sizes: length - 36,6 м, width - 9,15 м, deposit - 4,6 м, displacement - 720 т.
